Sunday Morning Services
Sunday, September 9, our church services resume at 10:30
AM, beginning with singing led by our Praise Team. The service includes scriptures and a message,
prayer, a children's story,
and music by the chancel choir. After the children's story,
children through grade 3 may leave to go to Children's Church.

Two Cows and a Plow
Our Sunday
school classes have been working towards the goal of purchasing,
with their Sunday School offerings,
cows and a plow for Kenyan widows as their mission project. The
offerings, from the children’s classes along with one of the adult
classes, are being used to fund this worthwhile mission endeavor.
The community of Suna, Kenya has
20 widows who are raising their
grandchildren as a result of the aids epidemic. It is hoped that
each widow will be able to receive a gift of 2 cows and a plow. This
will help her family become more self-sufficient as they are able to
raise food and also have extra milk to sell. In June, a mission
team, under Hope Unites, will go to Kenya to assist the community.
Is there anyone
who knows where we might purchase bells for our cows? Please give
Tom and Linda Cooper the information if you have knowledge of this.
Sunday School!
Both
children and adults may sign up for Sunday School classes at that
time. Children's classes include:
PreK-grade 3- Taught by Laurie Faso and Eleanor Hobbs,
they will be using Veggie Tales curriculum, called
"Veggie Connections: Connecting to a Powerful
Relationship with God". The first unit is The Faith
Connection at Veggie Lagoon.
Grades 4-12 will be using the Faith Weavers
curriculum and studying Bible stories from Genesis, including
Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, and Isaac being born.
Faith Weavers curriculum stresses ways we can all weave faith into
our lives.
Grades 4-5 will be taught by Lori Cook and Debbie Holser.
Middle School will be taught by Brenda
Hennessey, who is still in need of an assistant.
The High School Class will be taught by Tom and Linda Cooper.
In addition, SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS ARE NEEDED AT ALL
LEVELS.
The Alpha
program for persons interested in understanding the foundational
beliefs of Christianity will be offered again this fall and the
Grief Support group will also be available.
Community members wishing additional information may contact the

For Adults:
Wednesdays from 5:45-8:30 is
ALPHA, a 10-week course looking at
Christianity and its relevance today.
Includes dinner, presentation, and discussion. Child care is
available. The kick-off Celebration dinner is Sept. 14, with the
course to follow.
The following are class options
for adults, beginning January 7th at 9 AM:

In the
Shadow of His Wings will be offered on Sunday Morning led by
Rosie in the conference room.

The
Life and Ministry of the Messiah, a Ray VanderLan study is a
continuation led by Ronnie Lafferty in Room #22.

Joe would
like to continue with the Interpretation series. He wishes to
canvas the group for a selection.

A
Chicken’s Guide to Talking to Your Kids About Sex, a Kevin
Leman book, will be offered in the Nursery for parents. This
begins @ 9:30 and meets twice a month.
Afternoon and
Evening Studies include:
1.
Oh Say Can You See by James Moore. Led
by Sarah and Jean at Fredonia Place. This group meets on Wednesday
afternoons at 3:30 pm.
2. Prayer by Phillip
Yancey led by Janet Walker. (If we can obtain it from the
conference). This would coincide with our goal to develop a solid
Prayer Ministry.
